Wake Up to Your Life | Buddhist Meditation Group of Columbus

Meditation Groups

The Wednesday evening meditation group seeks to provide a supportive environment so that members can begin to learn how to cultivate attention in their daily lives. We provide basic meditation instruction, a group practice session, and time to discuss topics relevant to meditation or Buddhist practice. Currently we are contemplating the Four Immeasurables (Equanimity, Loving-Kindness, Compassion, and Joy) through the teachings of Ken McLeod, Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield.

The group meets every Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Narasiharama Buddhist Center of Ohio at 1005 W. King Ave. We start with 25 minutes of silent sitting meditation, follow by 10 minutes of mindful movement through walking meditation or qigong practice. We continue with a 25 minute guided meditation on one of the Four Immeasurables. Next, we listen to a podcast or read a text from a contemporary Buddhist teacher. We then discuss the teachings and how they apply to our daily lives.

We are planning an 8 week introductory meditation class to start in October 2011.
